Qur’an Recitation Competition for Male International Students in Türkiye Organized by UDEF

A Qur’an Recitation Competition will be organized by UDEF among male international students studying in Türkiye.

The student who ranks first at the provincial level will be eligible to participate in the nationwide final competition to be held in Istanbul.

• Competition Date: January 11, 2026

AWARDS

Evaluation Criteria and Scoring System

• Base Score: 30 points
• Tajweed and Articulation (Makharij al-Huruf): 30 points
• Accurate Reading from the Text: 20 points
• Melody (Maqam): 15 points
• Voice Quality: 5 points

Total: 100 points

Additional Rules

• Two (2) points will be deducted from the “accurate reading” score for each letter or vowel mistake; one (1) point will be deducted for each وقف (pause), وصل (continuation), or ابتداء (start) mistake.
• One (1) point will be deducted from the “tajweed and articulation” score for each tajweed or pronunciation error.
• Evaluation of voice quality and melody will be at the discretion of the jury members.
• The final score of each participant will be determined by the arithmetic average of the scores given by the jury members.
• In case of a tie, the scores in the main evaluation criteria will be reviewed in order; if the tie persists, a draw will be conducted.
